Established in 1996 by a group of academic social scientists and health researchers, located within multiple UK institutions, ACHRN aims to provide a forum for members (academic researchers, postgraduate students, alternative medicine practitioners, NHS and voluntary sector staff, and service users) to present their research, and to stimulate debate and dialogue on critical research issues in the wider alternative medicine community. Meetings are held quarterly  in Manchester and London.
